Tech should make our lives easier

Metadash is building tools that help users easily manage any cloud. We think our approach is the future of cloud management, where tedious manual work is replaced by intelligent assistance and continuous automation. Why did we decide to do this? Because cloud is too complex.

Cloud platforms like AWS and Azure have helped launch thousands of companies in the last decade. At first, they were a simple solution to many tough problems in web services. A single engineer could realistically understand most of a cloud platform and use it to save a lot of time and money.

Over the years, cloud platforms grew their portfolios from around a dozen services to hundreds, making them too big to understand for a team, let alone a single engineer. This added complexity led to wasted time and money dealing with cloud issues instead of shipping products. Things came full circle: the solution became the problem.

Lots of people in tech know that cloud is too complex. They complain about it all the time. In response, cloud vendors smile, nod, and keep adding more products.

Over time a sprawling industry emerged trying to solve the problems caused by cloud complexity, from deployment to security to governance. Teams now cobble together third-party, self-hosted, and in-house solutions, managing dozens of tools just to get the same functionality they had 10 years ago. We think there's a better way.

Our experience is rooted in cloud-native startups. We've scaled companies from a couple of hacky servers to large secure clusters and we know how much work it takes to operate at a high level. Fortunately most of that work can be standardized. That's why we’re building a system to do so, helping teams to focus on what matters.

In short, we want to make cloud simple. Our vision is a system with one interface for any cloud that solves real-world problems and automates tedious work. Our plan is to integrate solutions, automate processes, and optimize resources in key cloud areas — security, stability, and scalability — with an intense focus on user experience and customer needs. We’re building what the cloud is missing.

Our vision aligns with trends and emerging ideas, which makes us confident that industry will move in the same direction. Specifically, we see our work implementing innovations such as sky computing and ClickOps, which address cloud complexity from different angles. We also believe our approach will transform cloud cost management with proactive automation and unlock the potential of multicloud with better design.

It’s time to make cloud simple. There is a massive opportunity from the lessons learned over the last decade. The next generation of companies will need the incredible leverage their predecessors enjoyed. We're building Metadash to make that happen.
